Scientific background

Investigations.

Innova Messtechnik (Kempten) sells, among other things, shielding textiles, such as "INNOVA Shield," an RF-shielding cotton fabric. According to the manufacturer: "High-frequency shielding cotton fabric"
Attenuation 40–20 dB from 200 MHz to 10 GHz (depending on the frequency). This is physically plausible and corresponds exactly to the type of materials studied in the scientific literature (cotton or polyester fabrics with woven/applied conductive threads or metal coatings).

Important: Classic shielding materials (Faraday cages, conductive textiles, metallized nonwovens) are physically effective and easily measurable; these are precisely the products that INNOVAMesstechnik offers. Many "esoteric" products (harmonizers, chips, etc.) lack reliable evidence.
Absence/avoidance is primarily recommended rather than complete shielding of the entire living space.
Scientific studies on this topic:

1. Blachowicz & Ehrmann (2023) – “Textile Fabrics as Electromagnetic Shielding Materials—A Review” Systematic overview of various woven, knitted, and nonwoven fabrics with conductive yarns or metal coatings. Zeigen z.B. Abschirmdämpfungen von 30–55 dB im Bereich 0,5–1,5 GHz (typischer Handy/WLAN-Bereich). 30 dB bedeutet: Feldstärke um Faktor 31 reduziert, 50 dB → Faktor 316, also sehr deutliche Abschwächung.
For example, shielding attenuation of 30–55 dB is shown in the 0.5–1.5 GHz range (typical mobile phone/Wi-Fi range). 30 dB means: field strength reduced by a factor of 31, 50 dB → factor of 316, i.e., a very significant attenuation.


2. Pušić et al. (2022) – “Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Woven Fabric…” Investigates fabrics with incorporated conductive threads. Measures the shielding effectiveness (SE) in dB in detail across various frequencies. Confirms that even relatively thin textiles provide reproducible, frequency-dependent attenuation.

3. Recent individual studies on specific textiles/nonwovens: Sirková et al. (2025) – Comparison of woven and knitted fabrics with regard to EM shielding. Hu et al. (2023) – Mathematical modeling and measurement of the shielding effect of metallized nonwovens. Rathour et al. (2025) – Optimization of the shielding effect of conductive nonwoven materials. Li et al. (2023) – Performance evaluation of EM shielding fabrics and shielding mechanisms.
All of these studies demonstrate:





→ Conductive textiles (e.g. cotton + silver/copper threads or coating) can significantly dampen electromagnetic fields in the relevant frequency range (hundreds of MHz to several GHz) – exactly the kind of material offered by companies like Innova. For an electromagnetic field to be weakened or canceled out by a counter-field, the following are required: the same frequency same amplitude opposite phase

This is classic destructive interference.
